18/06/2020 - Dame Vera Lynn

Dame Vera Lynn was a great Ambassador not only during the war, but in peacetime. I can clearly remember hearing the troops and locals in the Five Bells pub singing her songs during the war. The lady was a great inspiration not only to the older generation but also to us boys and girls, we often had a session at school singing her songs, though in my case it would probably have been better for me to mime during these singing sessions. In the 50’s I was fortunate to take some photographs of the lady. Rest in Peace Dame Vera. You were the best.
