29/04/2026 - Fly Fishing has been good

Over the past 2 weeks trout fishing on the River Ribble has been good, what has helped is good hatches of Grannoms. Using a 5 weight outfit with a ten food leader with a tippet size of 2lbs with a size 14 Grannom, mid day has proved a productive time or late afternoon. I usually sit quietly on the bank waiting for a fish to show, I then make a cast upstream of the rise then allow the fly to drift down stream. The take are quite impressive as the fish take the patten, all you need to do in most cases is lift the rod and set the hook. Why not go and give dry fly fishing a try this summer,
